In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The OOPS! Co. has gone pink! This October marks the 27th anniversary of The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization, who's mission is to "promote breast cancer awareness, share information on the disease, and provide greater access to screening services." Many national brands, landmarks, and organizations also participate by sporting pink to show their support; the Georgia Aquarium, the Empire State Building, NFL, Estée Lauder, Lee's Denim, and even the White House!

Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among American women and it is estimated that there will are 230,480 new cases of breast cancer this year. And breast cancer doesn't just affect women, it affects men too; there are about 2,140 new cases of breast cancer in men this year. To increase the chances of successful treatment, early detection is key. Women between the ages of 20 and 40 should receive clinical breast exams at least every 3 years and women 40 and up should schedule yearly mammograms.

Like us, we hope that you too will promote breast cancer awareness through participating in events such as Susan G. Komen's Race For The Cure, spreading the word about breast cancer detection and prevention, and encouraging the women in your life to get screened. Even the simplest act of wearing a pink ribbon, writing a blog post or tweeting your support helps get the word out!
